GOOD TO KNOW

Handcrafted genuine Marseille soap: what does it mean?

As the soap is authentic and handmade, don't be surprised by the following:

The weight of the soap
Your 300 grams cube only weighs 270g? Don't panic! The weight of Marseille soap is taken from freshly made soap and then constantly fluctuates while it dries.
Marseille soap undergoes desiccation, meaning it constantly dries out. And it dries it continues losing up to 25% of its initial weight. Yet you don't lose anything! As it dries, each soap is becoming better and more cost-effective It will dry quicker between uses thus lasting longer..

The degree of drying
The soap is made by the Le Sérail soap factory. The degree of drying varies according to the date of production. The more recent the production date, the "wetter" the soap.

Are the soaps too soft ? Leave it to dry in the open air. Humidity levels and temperature have an impact on the apearance of unrefined soaps.

White film
It is likely to appear on quality unrefined soaps, depending on their moisture content. No need to worry, it is not mould.

It is the result of the manufacturing process, the soap paste being washed in salt water. It is a sign of high quality, however if it bothers you visually, run the soap under water, it will rub off.

The colour of Marseille soap
The colour varies naturally based on oils used, production process, and drying, with olive Marseille soap becoming lighter over time. These variations are normal for artisanal and non-refined soaps, don't be surprised!
